When You Need to Make It Work … But It Doesn’t

When you need to make it work: old fashioned stereo equipment with a rats nest of messy wiring.

What You Need

A very common problem people have with electronic systems is, what do they do when they need to make it work … but it doesn’t? Both home and business systems suffer from this; the field of electronics is constantly changing, and equipment that was great when it was installed often isn’t so great just a few years later. Sometimes the technology has become outdated and is no longer suited to the task. Sometimes just a part of it has failed, and now nothing works, or that one piece that doesn’t is the one piece that must. Sometimes, there have been inexpert hands modifying things to the point that no one remembers anymore how to use it … or only ones person knows, and they aren’t available that one time they are needed.

What We Have Done

These are problems that Hawthorne Integration Services LLC knows how to solve. When you need to make it work, we have over 30 years of experience on tap in both home and commercial electronics, there is very little we haven’t run across, and even less that we can’t figure out. Here are just a few examples.

  • A widow called us who wanted to get her late husband’s old stereo equipment running again. We sorted through it, helped determine what was hopeless, and hooked the rest up. We wired in some new speaker locations, and reconnected an entire basement system that had been pulled apart during a renovation. When we started, nothing worked, but when we were finished, two entire systems were back up and running.
  • A church went silent, and when we arrived within days of being called, we found 20+ year old equipment that even the manufacturer had no idea what to do with. We evaluated the situation, and installed a new Midas digital mixer. Preliminary adjustments were made right away, and final adjustments were done during a live service at no extra charge. They wanted something that no one had to worry about or figure out how to use, and when we left, the participants only needed to walk up to a podium and speak.
  • A doctor who loved music just wanted to be able to come home after long hours at his practice and hospital rounds, but his speakers didn’t sound good. We replaced several speakers, added a few new ones, and rewired and moved the entire system so he could hook up his TV too. Not long after, he renovated a different room, and we hid all the wires that were lying on the floor, mounted his TV on an articulated arm so it could be viewed both inside and on his deck, relocated everything so it no longer blocked his window wall.
  • A homeowner purchased a home that had multiple rooms of in-ceiling speakers installed, but only a closet full of wires with nothing connected. We tested all the speakers, found a few bad volume controls and installed a Sonos system. They went from nothing working to everything working in the rooms where they wanted music.
  • This scenario has actually happened more than once: a homeowner purchased a house with a Lutron lighting control system that no longer worked. Working with local businesses we partner with, we helped replace the outdated processors and smart electrical devices, and then we did all the testing and reprogramming ourselves to make it all functional again.
  • No less than three times, we have been called into a local school that had either a completely or partially non-working emergency paging system. We traced and tested wiring, fixed what was wrong, and replaced equipment when necessary to help keep the schoolchildren safe.
