Smart Home devices are electronics designed to make your life easier by connecting them to your home network, and frequently, the Internet as well. They are also often referred to as the “Internet of Things” (IoT) because they are smart enough to talk to each other, or go out onto the Internet for additional data, or allow you to access and control them with an app whether you are home or away. A programmable coffee maker is not necessarily a smart home device if all it’s controls are only on the front panel, but if it has an app, then it is.
But there are times when what might seem like a simple setup to the engineer who designed them is either baffling or incomprehensible to the end user. And just as frequently, a busy home or business owner simply has neither the time nor inclination to learn how to set things up outside their sphere of expertise. In addition, most smart home devices only talk to other devices of the same make and manufacturer … but what if you want your smart lights on your remote control? Or your smart thermostat to change it’s temperature when you turn the lights off for the evening? Hawthorne Integrations Services LLC can help you with all of these scenarios, and many more.
We have experience with many smart home devices, and if they are controllable by another manufacturer’s controller, chances are we have experience with that at well. Home Automation systems are a common application for Smart Home devices, because they increase the ease of use and convenience exponentially. We have been setting such systems up for as long as smart home devices have existed.
Just a few of the many smart home devices we have worked with include (see also the important NOTE below):
- Video doorbells by Ring, 2N and DoorBird
- Smart Thermostats by Ecobee, Nest, and Venstar
- CCTV systems by Hikvision, Dahua, and many of the secondary brands manufactured by them (we control these only, or bring the image up on a touchscreen, we do not install them)
- Zigbee and Z-Wave door locks – nearly every manufacturer makes these, far to many to list (we control these only, we do not install them)
If you own a product that is not on this list, contact us to see if we can still help you with it. Chances are we can.
Please note that some of these products may require being wired or installed by a licensed trade. Hawthorne Integration Services LLC is not licensed in NJ to install electrical wiring, security systems, closed circuit surveillance, door locks, or HVAC systems. We can, however, work with licensed contractors, and in some cases, swap out devices for their smart equivalent if no work is needed on the main system. We are primarily an integrator, and will help you get your smart devices talking to the rest of the house or to your control system. Contact us for details or a consultation.
